I hate vacuuming. I really do. Well I did until very recently
when I saw an advertisement for a Robot vacuum.
I’d never heard of robots on sale before, let alone
robots who could manage the vacuuming! I figured it was some
kind of gimmick but went along to the store to take a look
at these labor saving robot cleaners anyway.
At the store I was less than impressed with the look of these
robot vacuums. They looked like a chunky high-tech dinner
plate! With a name like Roomba, they sounded like a South
American dance. How could this take away my vacuuming blues?
The guy demonstrating how the Roomba dinner plate worked
gave his talk. I wandered around looking at the models on
display. It was the name of the white Roomba that caught my
eye. “Discovery”. Yes, this was all a discovery.
Eventually, salesguy picked up the creatively named Roomba
Red robot. This will vacuum anything he says. With a press
of a button, the red dinner plate shaped Roomba Red robot
was off. It seemed to be all over the place, sometimes the
robotic vacuum went diagonally, sometimes in straight-lines.
Fast-talking guy said this was normal behaviour and that it
was the way the robot cleaner vacuumed the room. And clean
it did – everything from spilled cereal on hardwood
flooring to cat hair on carpets. Clever little robot!
Well that was about 2 months ago now. Robbie the robotic
cleaner and I get along great. I hate vacuuming so much that
I thought even at that price I’d give this robot a try.
It’s wonderful! No more getting down and under the bed
– who am I kidding, before robot vacuum cleaners came
to vacuum under the bed, it never got done! My floors have
never been cleaner!
